Stellic is excited to welcome Ryan Scott as our new Head of Design. With over 15 years of experience at agencies and tech companies like DoorDash, Palantir, Airbnb, and Salesforce, Ryan will lead brand, marketing, and product design at Stellic, amplifying the company’s commitment to providing a platform that students and university staff love.
“It was immediately clear to me how deeply Stellic prioritizes design. Having one design team own marketing, brand and product design—as well as having design report directly to the CEO—are uncommon decisions that signal how committed Stellic is to design being set up to dramatically redefine expectations at industry-level.” - Ryan Scott, Head of Design, Stellic
With a background in graphic design, Ryan founded a design agency to pay his way through college before working in-house at leading tech firms. He has experience building systems from 0-to-1, in addition to leading product teams to reimagine critical systems at established companies. As one of the first 100 employees at DoorDash, Ryan developed the company’s photography program from scratch, building and overseeing a distributed 80-person team to bring food photos to DoorDash’s menus. At Airbnb, he led a five-team cross-functional effort to redesign how guests book homes around the world—producing tens of millions of incremental bookings—in addition to redesigning Airbnb’s messaging, navigation, sign up, and host calendar platforms.
Having recently earned his MBA from Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, Stellic’s mission to serve students in higher education personally resonated with Ryan.
"There can be so much friction to even do simple things, like knowing whether you’re on track to graduate or signing up for classes. Higher ed is an exciting blue sky space that’s rich with complex design problems.” - Ryan Scott, Head of Design, Stellic
His recent experience as the Executive Director of Develop for Good, a digital agency that connects design, product, and engineering students with nonprofits around the world, also aligns closely with the student-centric nature of Stellic’s mission and values.
At Stellic, Ryan is looking forward to using what he’s learned at seed-stage, high-growth, and public companies to build a design-centric culture where designers can do the best work of their careers.
“We’re committed to being a design-first company. Ryan matched all our values and this was a natural next step in furthering those. We’re really excited to have him on board and look forward to working with him as we continue developing a product that starts with design.” - Sabih Bin Wasi, Founder & CEO, Stellic
